The updated LPPR list for add-on reimbursement published in France

On January 18, 2021, a new version of the List of Reimbursable Products and Services (LPPR) was published. It contains new devices included in the LPPR list in November-December 2020, as well as other modifications made during this period.

Some examples of the newly introduced codes for medical devices in the updated version of the LPPR List can be found below.

Cardiovascular area:

  • Coronary endoprostheses coated with everolimus SYNERGY XD by BOSTON SCIENTIFIC under the codes 3163903, 3148418, 3154382, 3118222, 3184147, 3108169, 3114017, 3182898, which differ depending on the diameter of the endoprosthesis. The reimbursement tariff is €630, regardless of the diameter.

Neuromodulation area:

  • Remote control for deep brain stimulation systems ACTIVA TELECOMMANDE PATIENT ACTIVA (Medtronic) under the code 3438702. The reimbursement tariff is €698.68.

Orthopedics area:

  • 3145466 Highly cross-linked polyethylene insert, MEDACTA, HIGHCROSS, 22.2mm diameter insert with the reimbursement tariff of €83.06;
  • 3118140 Hip, dual mobility, J&J, BI-MENTUM PRESSFIT CUP, standard non-cemented cup with the reimbursement tariff of €540.22;
  • 3175384 Knee, meniscal implant, absorbable or non-absorbable anchor, ARTHREX, FIBERSTITCH with the reimbursement tariff of €207.57.

Peripheral vascular area:

  • 3141416 Thoraco-abdominal vascular endoprosthesis, Cook, ZENITH T-BRANCH with the reimbursement tariff of €11,115;
  • 3113450 Vascular endoprosthesis, Cook, ZENITH UNIVERSAL DISTAL BODY with the reimbursement tariff of €2,700;
  • 3159652 Multibranch aortic endoprosthesis, Cook, Multibranch ZENITH with the reimbursement tariff of €14,400;
  • 3154904 Fenestrated aortic endoprosthesis, Cook, Fenestrated ZENITH with the reimbursement tariff of €14,400.

In February 2021, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England, published Bulletins 0182 and 0079 with changes to be implemented no later than April 10, 2022. Three new procedure codes concerned robotic surgery in orthopaedic area, spinal procedures, and ophthalmology, and five new diagnostic codes were introduced.

On February 07, 2022, the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency has announced the withdrawal of the assessments of the PhysioMem PM 100 and CardioMem CM 100 XT and the finalization of the assessments of the Zenicor ECG, Coala Heart Monitor Pro, and KardiaMobile. For the conducted assessments, it was outlined that the portable devices provide more limited information than standard ECG measurements; therefore, it was mainly estimated for atrial fibrillation.

In February 2022, the Finnish Coordinating Center for Health Technology Assessment announced the release of the seven accomplished rapid hospital assessments performed by the Helsinki, Tampere, and Oulu University Hospital. The accomplished rapid HTAs concern the diagnostic imaging, e-Health, endocrine, endoscopy, men’s health, neuromodulation technology groups.
