In February 2022, the Finnish Coordinating Center for Health Technology Assessment, FinCCHTA, announced the release of the seven accomplished rapid hospital assessments:

  • Combined PET/MR imaging: metabolic imaging combined with non-ionizing anatomical magnetic resonance imaging by the Helsinki University Hospital;
  • Artificial intelligence-based auto-segmentation of normal tissues during radiotherapy by the Helsinki University Hospital;
  • Deployment of an artificial intelligent insulin pump in pediatric patients (advanced hybrid-closed loop, aHCL) by the Helsinki University Hospital;
  • Single Use Endoscopy by the Tampere University Hospital;
  • High-intensity ultrasound (HIFU) for the treatment of local and locally recurrent prostate cancer by the Helsinki University Hospital;
  • Deep brain stimulation (DBS) in the treatment of severe epilepsy by the Oulu University Hospital;
  • Smart Insulin Pens for Type 1 and Type 2 Insulin-Treated Diabetic Patients (NovoPen6® and NovoPen® Echo Plus) by the Helsinki University Hospital.

With a regional decree 2472 of February 10, 2022, Tuscany Regional Healthcare has published assessments of five medical devices of various therapeutic areas, such as cardiovascular and peripheral vascular areas.

The NHS Insights Prioritisation Programme (NIPP) is commissioned by the NHS Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). It is designed to accelerate the evaluation and implementation of innovation that supports post-pandemic ways of working, builds service resilience, and delivers benefits to patients. Fourteen projects have been funded and have now commenced activity that will be ongoing until March 2023.

On February 21, 2022, it was announced by the Ministry of Health that the public consultation regarding the Draft Order amending the Common Package of Benefits of the National Health System (SNS) was open. The amendments and clarifications are related to the fields of in-vitro diagnostics, ENT, pulmonary and airways, e-health, neurology, dental care, radiology, and enteral nutrition.
