In June 2021, NICE announced developing a multi-agency advisory service for developers and adopters of artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven technologies, funded by NHS AI Lab. NICE is working in partnership with the Care Quality Commission, Health Research Authority, and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

NICE is inviting developers and adopters of AI and data-driven technologies to be involved in building this new service that includes interviews, Q&A sessions, user testing, and consultations. The launch of the new service is scheduled for spring 2022.

Last month, there was an event about the new service on the panel of an NHS AI Virtual Hub. The project is still in the early stages of development, but it was received a great deal of interest and welcomed a broad range of participants. The recording of the event is now available on the NICE YouTube channel.

The registration can be made here.

The participants are needed for the user research, which will be conducted remotely and may include:

  • Contextual interviews - asking questions about the experiences developing or bringing AI and data-driven tech to market in England or adopting these technologies as a health and care provider;
  • Task-based interviews - using participant's web browser to look at links that have been sent to the participant and give feedback using an app/browser plug-in to record feedback.
