The Norwegian Directorate of Health has launched updated national guideline for treatment and rehabilitation of stroke

Stroke is both an emergency and chronic medical condition and therefore a broad approach and comprehensive treatment pathway are required to ensure the patient’s needs at various phases of the treatment process. “National professional guideline for treatment and rehabilitation of stroke” of the Norwegian Directorate of Health were developed to ensure effective treatment at the right time in all phases of the course of treatment.

The recommendations in this guideline are based on the evidence-based approach and cover description of treatment pathway in stroke, diagnostics and treatment of stroke in acute and chronic phase, secondary prevention and rehabilitation after stroke.

The guideline provides very detailed recommendations for thorombectomy in the section 2.4 “Reperfusion therapy and antithrombotic treatment in acute cerebral infarction” (2.4.5 Trombektomi), including clinical indications and timelines, advantages and disadvantages, resource considerations (how many patients require trombectomt, etc.), management of clinical outcomes after trombectomy performance (e.g. mortality, quality of life, etc.)., requirements to the hospital.

On January 24, 2022, the Norwegian Directorate of e-Health released an updated version of the National Laboratory code (NLK) system and associated tariffs for state and private laboratories to be implemented no later than March 01, 2022. In December 2021, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published two new Interventional Procedure Guidance (endobronchial nerve ablation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and transanal total mesorectal excision for rectal cancer), two new Medical Technologies Guidance (ClearGuard HD antimicrobial barrier caps, and Endo-SPONGE for treating low rectal anastomotic leak), and one new Medtech Innovation Briefings (FreeO2 automatic oxygen titration). Also, one new clinical guideline was published, and five were updated.
