New clinical guidelines published in Russia in December 2021

In Russia, standards of medical care are approved on the basis of the clinical guidelines and include average frequencies of the provision of procedures, devices, and drugs. In December 2021, nineteen clinical guidelines on several standards of medical care were released. 

New clinical guidelines that were published in December 2021 include:

  • Migraine in adults developed by the collaboration of the All-Russian Society of Neurologists and Interregional public organization "Russian Headache Research Society" (link);
  • Tension headache in adults developed by the collaboration of the All-Russian Society of Neurologists and Interregional public organization "Russian Headache Research Society" (link);
  • Pulmonary atresia with a ventricular septal defect in children developed by the collaboration of the Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Russia, All-Russian Public Organization "Association of Pediatric Cardiologists of Russia", Russian Scientific Society of Specialists in X-ray Endovascular Diagnostics and Treatment (link);
  • Congenital supravalvular aortic stenosis in children developed by the Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Russia (link);
  • Tetralogy of Fallot in children developed by the collaboration of the Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Russia, All-Russian Public Organization "Association of Pediatric Cardiologists of Russia", Russian Scientific Society of Specialists in X-ray Endovascular Diagnostics and Treatment (link);
  • Ascariasis in children developed by the collaboration of the International Public Organization "Euro-Asian Society for Infectious Diseases", Interregional Public Organization "Association of Infectious Diseases Physicians of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region" (link);

On January 18, 2022, the Ministry of Health has awarded the Framework Agreement for the acquisition of 81 linear accelerators included in the High-End Technology Equipment Investment Plan. Furthermore, the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA) has also initiated the processing of the Framework Agreement that will facilitate the acquisition of the equipment in the fields of interventional cardiology, interventional vascular radiology, interventional neurovascular, digital brachytherapy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, PET-CT, SPECT-CT.

In January 2022, the Basque Office for Health Technology Assessment (OSTEBA) released an HTA report aiming to assess and compare the efficacy, effectiveness, and safety of the mechanical circulatory support devices most used in the healthcare setting for the treatment and prevention of cardiogenic shock, including Impella® devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
