A new multi-agency advisory service (MAAS) is currently under development by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in partnership with the Care Quality Commission, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, and the Health Research Authority. NHSX (NHS AI Lab) has funded the creation of MAAS.
This new cross-regulatory service will be a “one-stop-shop” for support, information, and guidance on the regulation and evaluation of AI technologies. MAAS will be a single platform for advice and guidance to help AI innovators and adopters understand what must be done and when it must be done. The advisory service will clearly delineate “must do” requirements and strongly advise to follow the “should do.”
The MAAS is now in the alpha stage and is scheduled to be fully operating in summer 2022. In the coming months, a series of updates are expected.
NICE is inviting developers and adopters of AI and data-driven technologies to be involved in building this new service that includes interviews, Q&A sessions, user testing, and consultations. The enquiry form can be completed here.
