In February 2022, the Finnish Coordinating Center for Health Technology Assessment announced the release of the seven accomplished rapid hospital assessments performed by the Helsinki, Tampere, and Oulu University Hospital. The accomplished rapid HTAs concern the diagnostic imaging, e-Health, endocrine, endoscopy, men’s health, neuromodulation technology groups.

Dutch Healthcare Institute (ZIN) has issued a Pilot Horizon Scan of 39 new diabetes-related MedTech products that are expected on the Dutch market in 2022 or 2023. Patients with diabetes could benefit significantly from the use of these devices. However, available data on their effectiveness and efficiency is limited.

In late October 2021, the Treatment Council (Behandlingsråd) published three topics chosen for developing the so-called major analyses (større analyser) in 2022. The selected topics include patient-centered diabetes technology, hand-held focused ultrasound in emergency medicine, and artificial intelligence as decision support for colonoscopy.

In March 2020, the Dutch Healthcare Institute advised the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport to simplify the reimbursement to diabetes care aids. In accordance with this advice, the Real-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring (RT-CGM) and ketone test strips will no longer fall under specialist medical care (MSZ) but will be covered by medical aid care (HMZ). The new scheme is intended to take effect on 1 January 2021.

In October of 2018, the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency (TLV) has published a completed health economic evaluation regarding the clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness MiniMed 670G in comparison to MiniMed 640G device. TLV concluded that the use of the MiniMed 670G can increase the patients’ quality of life due to reduced concern for hypoglycemia, increased comfort, fewer complications and also lead to potential cost benefits.
