Apr 2019

In Finland, the Health Care Services Selection Council (Terveydenhuollon palveluvalikoimaneuvosto, PALKO) is responsible for making recommendations regarding the research, treatment and rehabilitation methods. The assessment procedure includes the overview of the research data, evidence, ethical and organizational aspects of healthcare. The Council provides the recommendation whether the method is a part of publicly funded services or not.

Currently, PALKO is working on the only one assessment related to in-vitro diagnostics:

  • Screening for a Serious Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID) from Newborn Heel

Initially, the recommendations are published at the web-site of the Council as drafts and could receive the feedback which would be considered during the preparation of completed report. The final versions could be found here.
