The following technology assessments and clinical guidelines were released by NICE in April 2017:

Medtech Innovation Briefing for video-assisted anal fistulae treatment. It is a surgical kit used for treating anal fistulae.
Clinical Guidelines for alcohol-use disorders and irritable bowel syndrome in adults were updated
Interventional Procedure Guidance: Minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion surgery for chronic sacroiliac pain. This procedure should only be used with special arrangements for clinical governance, consent and audit or research due to inadequate quantity and quality of current evidence on the safety and efficacy.

NHS Insights Prioritisation Programme in England

The NHS Insights Prioritisation Programme (NIPP) is commissioned by the NHS Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). It is designed to accelerate the evaluation and implementation of innovation that supports post-pandemic ways of working, builds service resilience, and delivers benefits to patients. Fourteen projects have been funded and have now commenced activity that will be ongoing until March 2023.

New procedure and diagnostic codes added to the private reimbursement schedule in England

In February 2021, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England, published Bulletins 0182 and 0079 with changes to be implemented no later than April 10, 2022. Three new procedure codes concerned robotic surgery in orthopaedic area, spinal procedures, and ophthalmology, and five new diagnostic codes were introduced.

Assessments of monitoring and diagnostics of atrial fibrillation products released in Sweden

On February 07, 2022, the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency has announced the withdrawal of the assessments of the PhysioMem PM 100 and CardioMem CM 100 XT and the finalization of the assessments of the Zenicor ECG, Coala Heart Monitor Pro, and KardiaMobile. For the conducted assessments, it was outlined that the portable devices provide more limited information than standard ECG measurements; therefore, it was mainly estimated for atrial fibrillation.
