In December 2021, three more health apps were introduced in the Directory of digital health applications (DiGAs) at the Federal Office for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and thus became reimbursable. These apps can be prescribed by physicians and psychotherapists and will be reimbursed by health insurers. In total, 27 health apps are now available at the DiGA Directory.
On December 11, 2021, the health app “HelloBetter Diabetes and Depression” (GET.ON Institute for Online Health Training GmbH, Germany) was introduced. “HelloBetter Diabetes and Depression” is an interactive psychological therapy program aimed to reduce the severity of depressive symptoms in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus. In addition to well-founded psychoeducation texts, videos, and audios available for use, the 12-week online course also provides effective cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies, including behavioral activation and problem-solving techniques. The health app is available in German with a tariff of €599.
The health app “HelloBetter ratiopharm chronic pain”, developed by the same manufacturer as the abovementioned one, was introduced on December 18, 2021. It is an interactive psychological online program for the sustained reduction of pain impairment in people with chronic pain. In addition to well-founded psychoeducation texts, videos, and audios available for use, the patients can learn effective acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) strategies, further developing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). “HelloBetter ratiopharm chronic pain” is available in German with the same tariff of €599.
On December 18, 2021, the health app “Kranus Edera” (Kranus Health GmbH, Germany) was introduced. It is a digital health application for the holistic treatment of erectile dysfunction and its causes. The stand-alone therapy supports men with erectile dysfunction actively participating in their treatment. It helps doctors implement the recommendations of the guidelines for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and thus expand the therapy options. The therapy is supplemented by imparting knowledge about the disease and helpful tips, e.g., nutrition and preventive measures. “Kranus Edera” is available in German with a tariff of €552.
