New version of CCAM nomenclature published in France

The new version of the classification of procedure codes (CCAM v.68) applicable from 09/12/2021 was published in France. Multiple changes were introduced, including registration of 22 new procedure codes, changes of notes and tariffs for procedure codes, removal of two codes, and other changes.

Some examples of the newly-added procedure codes (classified by technology groups) are listed below:

Gastrointestinal

  • HJFE429 “Submucosal dissection of lesions of the rectum, by endoscopy” with the CCAM fee of €675;
  • HNEH606 “Transplantation of pancreatic islets by transcutaneous transhepatic intraportal route with radiological guidance” (no CCAM fee);
  • HNEA740 “Transplantation of pancreatic islets by implanted device, by laparotomy” (no CCAM fee).

ENT

  • GAQD349 “Nitrogen monoxide (NO) measurement in the nose” with the CCAM fee of €57.

Peripheral vascular

  • DGKA268 “Replacement of the ascending thoracic aorta and horizontal aorta, with reinforced elephant's trunk technique, without replacement of the aortic valve, without reimplantation of the coronary arteries, by thoracotomy with extracorporeal circulation” with the CCAM fee of €2,451;
  • DGKA209 “Replacement of the ascending thoracic aorta and horizontal aorta, with reinforced elephant's trunk technique, without replacement of the aortic valve, with reimplantation of the coronary arteries, by thoracotomy with extracorporeal circulation” with the CCAM fee of €2,888;

Spine

  • LHMH197 “Spondyloplasty of 1 vertebra by intracorporeal implant by transcutaneous route, with radiological guidance” with the CCAM fee of €388;
  • LHMH705 “Spondyloplasty of more than 2 vertebrae by intracorporeal implant by transcutaneous route, with radiological guidance” with the CCAM fee of €434;
  • LHMH648 “Spondyloplasty of 2 vertebrae by intracorporeal implant by transcutaneous route, with CT guidance” with the CCAM fee of €279;

Surgical procedures

  • EDSD011 “Ligation of hemorrhoidal arteries with Doppler guidance, with mucopexy, by anal route” with the CCAM fee of €266;
  • QEMA740 “Autologous reconstruction of the breast using a pedicled musculocutaneous flap of the autologous latissimus dorsi muscle [LDA [Autologous latissimus dorsi]] without placing a prosthetic implant” with the CCAM fee of €664;
  • QEMA463 “Reconstruction of the breast using TDAP [ThoracoDorsal Artery Perforator] flap without placing a prosthetic implant” with the CCAM fee of €709;
  • QEMA682 “Reconstruction of the breast by SIEA [Superficial Inferior Epigastric Artery] flap, with vascular anastomoses” with the CCAM fee of €851.

On February 22, 2022, a repository of innovative acts outside the nomenclature of biology and anatomopathology (RIHN) and a Supplementary list of IVD tests were published. Minor changes were introduced in the 2022 RIHN list.

On February 21, 2022, it was announced by the Ministry of Health that the public consultation regarding the Draft Order amending the Common Package of Benefits of the National Health System (SNS) was open. The amendments and clarifications are related to the fields of in-vitro diagnostics, ENT, pulmonary and airways, e-health, neurology, dental care, radiology, and enteral nutrition.

In February 2021, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England, published Bulletins 0182 and 0079 with changes to be implemented no later than April 10, 2022. Three new procedure codes concerned robotic surgery in orthopaedic area, spinal procedures, and ophthalmology, and five new diagnostic codes were introduced.
