Coverage with evidence development programs are designed to test innovations (feasibility, efficacy, safety, cost-effectiveness) before their implementation in the health care system or provide a framework for managed introduction with the parallel bridging of key evidence gaps. Several coverage with evidence development programs exist in France: Hospital Program of Clinical Research (PHRC, which can be national, interregional, or cancer-related); Health Economic Research Program (PRME); Nursing and paramedical research hospital program (PHRIP); and Healthcare system performance research program (PREPS).
On February 5, 2021, the French Ministry of Solidarity and Health published the results of the pre-selection of applications submitted in 2020 for participating in the coverage with evidence development programs. Pre-selected applications for the PRME program are related to the medico-economic evaluation of a total of 20 technologies, including high throughput genome sequencing analysis in pediatric diagnostics, robotic thoracic surgery during lobectomy or segmentectomy in lung cancer, robotic gastric bypass for morbid obesity, mechanical thrombectomy techniques in the treatment of ischemic stroke, CAR-T cell therapy in the treatment of diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, creation of arteriovenous accesses for hemodialysis - the surgical technique and the endovascular technique, and others. Regarding the PHRC-N program, 205 applications were pre-selected.
The applicants whose applications (letters of intent) were selected are invited to submit a complete application by March 4, 2021, 18h CET.
