On October 30, 2020, the Swiss Federal Statistics Office (UFS) published the 2021 version of the procedure code (CHOP) nomenclature in French and Italian. The version in the German language was published in July 2020.
Numerous content updates and new procedure codes inclusion concern the chapters 0 "Measures and interventions not elsewhere classified (00)", 7 "Operations on the cardiovascular system (35–39)", 14 "Operations on the locomotor organs (76-84)" and 16 "Various diagnostic and therapeutic measures (87-99)".
The most significant changes are provided below:
- Multiple changes relate to cardiovascular and peripheral vascular interventions. A number of codes for the endovascular coiling of different vessels (00.4A.5, 00.4A.6, 00.4A.7, 00.4A.8 and 00.4AA), for insertion of vascular filters (00.4G.41.-) and plugs (00.4G.7.-, 00.4G.B.- were introduced. Also, the new procedure codes for coronary angioplasty (00.66.37 and 00.66.38), aortic valve replacement (35.F1.A2 and 35.F1.B2), and pacemaker implantation (37.8A.09, 37.8A.42, 37.8A.43) were included
- The sub-chapter 79.B- "Arthroscopically assisted treatment of a fracture" was revised, a new additional code 80.2A, "Arthroscopy, access route for surgical (therapeutic) interventions," was introduced. The other changes and revisions also comprise the procedures for the separation of the joint capsule, ligament or cartilage and plastic reconstruction of the rotator cuff
- Several codes for oncogenetic diagnostics were introduced (99.AA.00, 99.AA.09 and 99.AA.11).
The CHOP nomenclature is available in German, Italian, and French.
