In late September 2020, the Swedish version of NordDRG for 2021 was issued by the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen).

Four (4) new DRGs were added, and they concern the cardiovascular area, dialysis area, and two general DRGs.

The cardiovascular DRG that was added is E63O “Cardiovascular procedures without patient contact” (Kardiovaskulära åtgärder utan patientkontakt).

The dialysis DRG is M32O “Dialysis treatment, outpatient care” (Dialysbehandling, öppenvård).

Two general DRGs are X09R “Death during outpatient visit, primary care” (Avlidna under öppenvårdsbesök, primärvård) and X09O “Death during outpatient visit in specialized care” (Avlidna under specialiserat öppenvårdsbesök).

Also, a few minor changes in DRG names and logic were made.
