The Italian association of medical technology manufacturers, CONFINDUSTRIA dispositivi medici, published the results of a study in which they studied the average time the supplier of medical devices has to wait to get an invoice paid by the Italian hospitals.
The European Directive 2011/7 / EU established that 60 days must not be exceeded for Health, but not many Italian hospitals manage to meet this deadline. The differences vary between 35 days and 504 days.
The hospitals in the first group of regions pay the invoice to the supplier of medical devices, on average, in less than 60 days. Those are Aosta Valley (53 days), Friuli Venezia Giulia (54), and Lombardy (59). The hospital that takes the least time to settle an invoice is Hospital No. 5 of East Friuli in Pordenone (AAS N.5 Friuli Occidentale; 35 days). The other spots in the top-5 are the hospitals from Liguria (Asl 5 Spezzino, 44 days; Asl 4 Chiavarese, 47 days), and Lombardy (ASST Lodi, 47 days; Niguarda Hospital; 49 days).
The hospitals in the second group of regions pay the invoice to the supplier of medical devices, on average, in 60-120 days. Twelve (12) regions find their spot in this group, including Trentino-Alto Adige, Emilia Romagna, Veneto (all below ≤70 days), and others.
The hospitals in the third group of regions pay the invoice to the supplier of medical devices, on average, after more than 120 days. Regions of Sardinia (134 days), Sicily (144), Campania (151), Molise (174), and Calabria (286) fall within this group.
However, the national average today is better then it has ever been before.
