On July 01, 2021, NHS England published an update of the Specialized Services Policy Pipeline (covering March 21, 2021 - June 21, 2021).

Two types of Work Programmes exist:

  • Clinical commissioning policy work program;
  • Specialized commissioning service specification work program;

Updates were only made in the clinical commissioning policy work program. Three new policies were added to the work program; however, all related to pharmaceuticals only.

One new policy related to MedTech was published on proton beam therapy for breast cancer (all ages). It was concluded that there is not enough evidence, and proton beam therapy is not recommended to be available as a treatment option for breast cancer.
