Predictive Analysis for Therapy (PATH) is a collaboration between 35 pathology departments in the Netherlands, oncologists, pulmonologists, Pathological-Anatomical National Automated Archive (PALGA) and the Netherlands Integrated Cancer Center (IKNL). The project is funded by the Netherlands Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMW).
Mutations in the DNA of a tumor predict which patients will or will not benefit from treatment with targeted therapies. One of the tumor types that is being targeted is melanoma. Also, the project focuses on colorectal carcinoma, non-small cell lung carcinoma, and gastrointestinal stromal cell tumors.
Since October 2017, PATH has been collecting all pathology reports in which predictive analyzes have been reported of patients with cancer from the Pathological-Anatomical National Automated Archive (PALGA). The PATH project maps these findings and links them back to participating laboratories. In this way, possible differences between laboratories are made clear, and laboratories can mirror their findings with the national data.
The project runs until the end of 2020.
