In early September 2019, the Innovation Committee of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has published an overview of new research projects in the area of health services to be funded by the Innovation Fund in the future.
This involves a total of 59 projects from 40 applicants on the following topic areas:
- Evaluation of selective contracts – 1 (AOK Saxony-Anhalt - Health insurance company)
- Further development and evaluation of Outpatient specialist medical care (ASV) guideline – 1
- Further development and evaluation of Psychotherapy (PT) guideline – 4
- Strengthening of health care provision and transparency of nursing care quality – 2
- Accessibility and situation improvement in health care for people with assistance needs and their dependents – 3
- Linking health data at the patient level – 2
- Linking health data at the population level – 6
- Care impact of evidence-based health information for patients – 6
- Open topic – 34, among which:
- Control center-based detection of stroke patients for a thrombectomy and consequently coordinated rescue chain optimization (Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg)
- Health economic evaluation of percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion in patients with atrial fibrillation and a high risk of stroke and bleeding in comparison to the standard drug therapy (WIG2 Institute (Scientific Institute for Health Economics and Health System Research))
- Opioid analgesics - Investigation of development trends in the care of non-tumor related pain (University of Duisburg-Essen)
- Outcomes of the bariatric surgery (DAK healthcare)
The most research projects (5, 8%) from one applicant were received from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.
Once the beneficiaries have met the required conditions, they can request funding on a quarterly basis, depending on the project progress.
The applications were received on the funding announcements of October 19, 2018, and November 23, 2018. The decision on project funding was announced by the Innovation Committee in mid-August 2019.
