New material codes for anchoring and fixation implants for soft tissue were added to the List of reimbursable implants and medical devices

New material codes and related conditions of reimbursement for anchoring and fixation implants for soft tissue were added to the List of reimbursable devices of the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) in August 2020.

The following device will be reimbursed with a generic tariff but reimbursed when registered on the nominative list (38201):

  • 180935 - 180946 “Anchoring or screw-on system for functional repair of ligaments and tendons (with the exception of implants for the plasty of one or more cruciate ligaments of the knee, interference systems for intraosseous fixation of a tendon or ligament in a tunnel, anchors and clips), for all components, by attachment point” with a tariff of €177.90

The following devices will be reimbursed with a generic tariff, without registration on the nominative list:

  • 180891 - 180902 “Set of implants for plasty of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee, used during service 277351-277362 or 294114-294125 of the nomenclature” with a tariff of €285.15
  • 180913 - 180924 “Set of implants for the plasty of the posterior cruciate ligament of the knee, used during service 277351-277362 or 294114-294125 of the nomenclature” with a tariff of €399.54

In February 2021, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England, published Bulletins 0182 and 0079 with changes to be implemented no later than April 10, 2022. Three new procedure codes concerned robotic surgery in orthopaedic area, spinal procedures, and ophthalmology, and five new diagnostic codes were introduced.

At the end of February 2022, the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency (TLV) has launched a theme survey on products for monitoring and diagnostics of sepsis to identify products that may be relevant for health economic assessments at TLV.
