European Union adopts the Italian classification of medical devices

In late March 2019, the Italian Minister of Health announced that they’re honored by the European Commission’s decision to adopt the Italian national classification system for medical devices for the database at European level.

The Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG) of the European Commission has decided, in the meeting of February 14, 2019, to adopt the National Classification of Italian Medical Devices (CND) at European level as a nomenclature for the EUDAMED European database. The reasons are the peculiarities of structure, purpose, usability, and methodology of updating the Italian classification.

This was made possible thanks to the professionalism and constant support of the Italian regions and the experts of the working group of the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
