Dutch Healthcare Authority published draft release of the DRG package for 2023

On December 16, 2021, the Dutch Healthcare Authority, NZa, published a concept release of the DRG package for 2023 (RZ23a). One new procedure code, one new diagnosis code, and several new DRGs will be implemented.

The concept release of the DRG package RZ23a includes a new procedure code for intermittent pneumatic compression therapy (039549) and one new diagnosis code "Guidance in early pregnancy after a fertility program (maximum two consultations) (Z19)” for the Gynecology specialty (0307), which is intended for pregnancy supervision by a fertility center after infertility treatment.

Several new DRGs for pediatric palliative care, lymphovenous anastomosis surgery by the plastic surgeon, light therapy in inflammatory dermatoses will be implemented. The DRGs for carotid endarterectomy and aortic surgery will split into separate DRGs with or without neuromonitoring.

The definitive release of the DRG package for 2023 (RZ23a) will be published by the NZa no later than May 1, 2022.

In February 2021, the Clinical Coding and Schedule Development (CCSD) working group, which develops and maintains procedural and diagnostics nomenclature for private payers in England, published Bulletins 0182 and 0079 with changes to be implemented no later than April 10, 2022. Three new procedure codes concerned robotic surgery in orthopaedic area, spinal procedures, and ophthalmology, and five new diagnostic codes were introduced.

At the end of February 2022, the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency (TLV) has launched a theme survey on products for monitoring and diagnostics of sepsis to identify products that may be relevant for health economic assessments at TLV. The suggestions for the products of interest, ongoing clinical studies, or innovation projects could be received until 23 March 2022.
